2017 Policy Council and Leadership Elections

The Policy Council is APPAM's governing board and is responsible for setting policy and creating strategy for the Association. It currently consists of four elected cohorts serving staggered, four-year terms of office. The APPAM officers (ex officio voting); the APPAM Executive Director and the Editor of JPAM (ex-officio non-voting) comprise the Executive Committee; the Executive Committee is also part of the Policy Council.

APPAM is soliciting its members for nominations to the APPAM Policy Council and for the positions of President-elect, Vice-President, and Treasurer. All terms will begin in 2017. President-elect, Vice President, and Treasurer are 2-year terms; all Policy Council (Board) positions are 4-year terms.

The membership will elect three individuals to the Policy Council this year: two academics and one self-identified practitioner. One of the academic positions is reserved for an early-career academic member, defined as someone within 10 years of receipt of their terminal degree, per the bylaws.

The individual nominated must be a member in good standing. You can self-nominate or put forward the name of a member whom you feel would be an excellent leadership candidate.  Please send the name of the person being nominated, organization, and a 250-word statement on why the person would be an excellent addition to the APPAM leadership. Please submit your statement to Tara Sheehan, APPAM Executive Director, by Friday, August 12. The full slate of candidates will be approved at the membership meeting in at the Fall Conference and the election will be held in December. Winners will be announced in January 2017.

For information about the 2016 Policy Council elections, please check here.

Non-Policy Council members who are interested in serving on an open committee (Finance, Membership, Meetings, Communications, Membership, Policy Relevance, Diversity, Publications, International and Professional Development) should contact the Executive Director no later than Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

You can view a list of the current APPAM Officers, descriptions of each officer position, the current APPAM Policy Council Members and review the bylaws for APPAM.
