What Interventions Work Best for Families Who Experience Homelessness? Impact Estimates from the Family Options Study | JPAM Featured Article

In the United States, families with children represent about one-third of the 1.4 million people who experience sheltered homelessness each year. This paper presents findings from the Family Options Study, the first large-scale randomized trial to investigate the effects of interventions for families who experience homelessness. The study compares priority access to three types of programs with assignment to a usual care group that did not receive priority access to any type of program.

APPAM Members Select New Logo

November 19, 2013 09:08 AM

APPAM's Policy Council announced on the first day of the Fall Research Conference that the Association's membership would have a say in the organization's new logo. The Policy Council and staff had received complaints over the years that the logo is confusing and looks dated; the previous logo was designed in 1994.

In addition, over the past few years, APPAM has undergone some notable changes with our continued focus on ways to pursue our mission. These changes include a new strategic plan, governance and bylaw changes, exciting new events, a redesigned APPAM website, and a broad attempt to more fully engage our members. A new logo, or “public face” of APPAM shows our members and the policy community know that APPAM is moving in new directions and continues to play a leadership role in the policy and public management world.

Association members were able to vote via an online survey for the last two weeks. Members could vote between one of two presented options or vote to keep the original. The chosen logo won with 54 percent of the participant vote; the second logo option received 36 percent, and the original logo received 10 percent.

Over the coming weeks, the old logo will be replaced with the newly-chosen design, including a simpler version for use with social media and other short-form communications.
