New Student Events at the Fall Research Conference
Bright Futures Breakfast
For the first time ever, APPAM will host the Bright Futures Breakfast on Friday, November 9, 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. in the Hall of Fame Lounge at the Sheraton Hotel. This event will offer students the opportunity to enjoy a light breakfast while networking with hiring managers and recruiters to learn more about what they seek in job candidates, in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.
Student and Senior Scholar Roundtable and Networking Reception
Although the Student and Senior Scholar Receptions have been a part of APPAM for the last few years, this year will showcase a new format. Held Friday, November 9, 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. in the International E room at the Sheraton Hotel, this event will start with a lively roundtable. This roundtable will be composed of senior scholars, practioners and recent graduates who have successfully transitioned into the professional world. The panel will discuss the challenges and opportunities that confront students going through this transition period and offer suggestions for success. There will be time for questions at the end before the networking reception begins in the same space.
Student Volunteers Needed for the Fall Conference
APPAM is seeking student volunteers for the 2012 Fall Research Conference. All student volunteers will be assigned a 4-5 hour shift which could include duties such as taking head counts in sessions to determine attendance, handing out badges at the registration check in or other basic tasks as needed. All student volunteers receive free registration for the conference in exchange for their service. If you would be interested in volunteering, please email Jocelyn Mason with your name, contact information and availability.
