2012 APPAM Fall Research Conference
The APPAM Fall Research Conference will be held November 8-10 at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center and Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotels in Baltimore, MD.
The theme of the conference is "Policy Analysis and Public Management in an Age of Scarcity: The Challenges of Assessing Effectiveness and Efficiency."

Student Non-members $135 (Includes 1 year of membership)
In order to receive the member pricing, your membership must be current, if necessary, please renew your membership before registering for the conference to ensure you receive the best rate.
At the time of registration you will also be able to purchase a ticket for the Awards Luncheon and Membership Meeting ($25).
Conference participants must register by September 30.
The Fall Conference will be held at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center and Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotels. The Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotel is now SOLD OUT, please make your reservations at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel by October 7 to ensure you receive the conference price.
Please note: All hotel reservations require a non-refundable deposit of one night’s lodging and fees.
The digital preliminary program is brand new this year. Users can search by day, policy area, institution, name, session type, or keyword. The system loads quickly, pages can be easily printed, and finding the sessions that interest you is easier than ever.
*NEW in 2012* For the first time, the Fall Conference will include Cross Cutting sessions. These sessions are designed to offer a diversity of perspectives, disciplines, methods, policy areas and analysis and policy management perspectives. These sessions will be highlighted in the final program and can be found in the preliminary program.
*NEW in 2012* The Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis and the Benefit-Cost Analysis Center are pleased to announce a new joint collaboration with the APPAM conference. Several BCA-focused sessions will be included in the APPAM program. To find the BCA panels, open the conference program in your web browser and search for "Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis."

Welcome Reception at the Baltimore Museum of Industry
Join all your fellow APPAM attendees as we kick off the Fall Conference with hor d'oeuvres and cocktails at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, located in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor, on Thursday, November 8, 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Shuttle service will be provided from the motor lobby of the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel. Museum exhibits will be open for APPAM guests to enjoy learning about the industrial history of Baltimore.

LAST CALL for Rossi Award Nominations
The Rossi award honors the lifetime achievements of Peter Rossi (1921–2006) by recognizing important contributions to the theory or practice of program evaluation. Nominations may be made by any individual or organization. (Individuals may nominate their own work.)

Submit an RFP to Host a Future APPAM Institutional Member Forum
APPAM has started a series of forums jointly hosted by APPAM and its institutional members designed to help better connect the worlds of research and policy. The first forum was hosted by Mathematica Policy Research and featured an engaging roundtable on the U.S. health care system (see below). More than 100 people attended the roundtable in person and more than 500 people viewed the roundtable as a webinar. (View the video)
APPAM is requesting proposals from its institutional members to host future forums. Both the host and APPAM would jointly determine the topic of the forum. The forums/webinars will be free of charge to attendees/participants.
APPAM Now Considering Council and Leadership Positions for 2013
The APPAM Policy Council and Officer Elections are coming up in November. If you would like to be considered for service on the Policy Council, or know someone APPAM should consider for a position, please contact Tara Sheehan, APPAM Executive Director by Monday, September 3, 2012.
The APPAM Nominating Committee will be preparing a slate of nominees for the eight open positions on the Policy Council as well as nominees for President-Elect, Vice-President, and Treasurer.
The full roster of candidates will be presented to the membership at the APPAM Business Meeting Lunch held in conjunction with the Fall Research Conference on November 9, 2012, in Baltimore. Shortly thereafter, voting will take place electronically and the winners will be announced at the beginning of 2013.
