Careers in Public Policy
Analysis and Management |
 |
Since its founding in 1979, APPAM has promoted career opportunities in
the public policy analysis and management field. These
opportunities include faculty positions and research positions outside of
academia that require a doctorate in public policy or a related field. Many
of APPAM's
institutional members offer the doctorate as well as Bachelor's degrees and
professional Master's degrees. For more information on educational programs,
please look under "Education" on this website.
APPAM now is the co-sponsor of a new, comprehensive
career website,

This new site allows employers and job seekers many
features and now is open for use.
Among the features are the following
- For Employers:
- Account management tools including editing job
descriptions,
adding organization logos to announcements, and removing listings if
circumstances change.
- Year-round postings of resumes in a searchable
database.
- Alerts when new resumes posted by job seekers match
search criteria.
- Links between jobs and interviews to be conducted
during the APPAM
Fall Research Conference.
- For Job Seekers:
- Account management tools to post resumes
anonymously.
- Advanced searches for jobs that match criteria.
- Alerts when new jobs match criteria.
- Links to indicate that a job seeker will be available
for interviews
during the APPAM Fall Research Conference.
Until the end of September 2006, APPAM operated its own job listing service
(the Job Bank) on this website.
Employers familiar with the prior Job Bank should note
the following
regarding posting jobs to the new site:
- All employers must have accounts with passwords
on the new site to use for managing position listings. For job announcements
that APPAM transitioned to the new site after September 28, 2006, employers
responsible for those ads were sent email messages regarding passwords.
- All employers are required to pay for ads using
credit card payments only. The base fee is $250 per position announcement for
up to 90 days of listing on the new site. There is a reduced fee for extending
an announcement beyond 90 days.
- APPAM is offering its institutional members
rebates on position announcements according to a schedule to be sent directly
to the members. The rebates will
be applied through reductions in the bill for the annual
institutional dues.
- Employers also can search resumes on the new
site to find job seekers that match various criteria. In general there will
be a per-match fee to make contact with job seekers, but this fee will be
waived for employers seeking to interview at the APPAM Fall Research Conference.
- Employers wishing to conduct interviews at the
APPAM Fall Research Conference should read the additional instructions here.
The Job Bank only allowed persons to list their resumes in conjunction with
interviews conducted at the Fall Research Conference. The resume listing
service on www.PublicServiceCareers.org accepts new listings
at all times. It also is designed to include resumes for persons with all
levels of education and a wide variety of career interests related to public
policy analysis and management.

If you have any questions about the transition from the
closed Job Bank,
