Communications Volunteers Needed for 2012 Fall Conference

APPAM is now seeking media volunteers to work with our Communications Manager, Ben Rome, at the 2012 Fall Research Conference, November 8 to 10, in Baltimore MD.
Duties would include:

Attending designated programs, symposia, panels, etc. and summarizing the main theme, discussion points, and other information into a 400-600 word article.

Monitoring, engaging, and participating with the public and membership through social media (Twitter, FB, LI).

Operating/conducting video/audio interviews of member participants.

Directing/escorting photographer (as needed).

Other duties as needed.
The ideal volunteer candidate will have the following qualifications:

Be a public policy student or involved in a related program/organization

Have some writing experience through website/blogging, newspaper/journalism, magazine/publications, or radio/television work. Editing and photography experience is a plus.

Possess an outgoing personality and willingness to engage the public with respect and courtesy.

Social media experience is not required; but you should have a clean/respectable social presence online in order for those skills to be used.

Accepted volunteers will make arrangements to volunteer for several hours or all three days of the conference, as available. The number of volunteer opportunities available will depend on preferred length of service by selected individuals.
Volunteers will be compensated for their time with a combination of free conference registration, complimentary nights at the host hotel, or free parking, to be determined by length of service and travel or lodging arrangements.
