Supporting APPAM's International Activities in 2009 |

The special conference in Singapore on, "Asian Social Protections in Comparative Perspective," is among several international
conferences and workshops that APPAM will be co-sponsoring in 2009. APPAM welcomes support from universities, research firms and
other associations in facilitating these activities. In addition to the Singapore conference, APPAM also can confirm there
will be a workshop in South Korea on, "Teaching Environmental Policy and Management in Asia," to be co-hosted by the KDI School
of Public Policy and Management. APPAM also has invited other international members to possibly co-host a third conference in
2009 related either to immigration or evaluation.
International Program Associates:
Universities and other research organizations that would like to be "APPAM international program associates" are being asked
to contribute $5,000 in 2009. Funds from these contributions will be used to support the cost of all conferences in workshops
that APPAM co-sponsors outside of the U.S. in 2009. The program associates will be invited to help plan and to participate
in APPAM’s international events, and their contributions will be recognized in all publications, web sites, and other
related activities.
The following institutions have already become international program associates for 2009:
International Organizational Associates:
APPAM is also inviting other appropriate non-U.S. professional and academic membership organizations to be
"organizational associates" for each conference or workshop. Organizational associates will help disseminate information
about the specific event, and help to identify and recruit speakers and other participants. There will be no charge for this
status.
Journal Associates:
Research journals with content related to these international activities are invited to assist APPAM with disseminating
information about the events in return for promotional opportunities.
