All Day Event

One of the most valuable aspects of the annual Fall Research Conferences are the impromptu conversations attendees about a project they’re working on or an idea that they would like some feedback on. It is in the spirit of these important connections that we are introducing the Innovation Lounge. The aim of these sessions is to have a broad discussion on an emerging or not yet fully formed idea or concept in the research field. We invite you to submit a brief proposal.

One of the most valuable and critical aspects of the annual Fall Research Conferences are the impromptu conversations attendees have in the hallways, after a session or over lunch, about a project they’re working on or an idea that they have been kicking around and would like some feedback on. It is in the spirit of these important connections that we are introducing the Innovation Lounge at the 2018 Fall Research Conference, November 8 – 10 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.

"This year we have created the Innovation Lounge for you and your colleagues to share ideas, work on a joint project, or just compare notes about the session's papers," said David Johnson, APPAM's President. "For me, APPAM has always been a great time to learn, catch-up with friends, and build new collaborations. Let APPAM help you by using the Innovation Lounge."

The aim of these sessions is to have a broad discussion on an emerging or not yet fully formed idea or concept in the research field. Sessions will be open to everyone at the conference and we will encourage attendees to drop in and join the conversation if a topic is of interest to them. We anticipate each session being relatively small but having many of them over of the course of the conference, allowing attendees to connect/network over new and emerging research concepts and ideas. At the core, these sessions are about networking and building connections.

To have your research included in the Innovation Lounge programming, we invite you to submit a brief proposal. Please explain your work, what you hope to achieve in your research, how it will impact the policy community and three or four individuals who will attend or aid in the conversation, and any other additional details you’d like to share about the work. Anyone can start a conversation in the Innovation Lounge, you simply need to submit a proposal.
