How Does the Form and Structure of Collaborative Management Relate to Environmental Outcomes?

Tyler Scott, University of Washington, presented his paper How does the form and structure of collaborative management relate to environmental outcomes? at the 2013 Fall Research Conference. In it, Scott seeks to address the question of whether collaborative governance improves environmental outcomes. Scott found that while collaborative groups are strongly associated with environmental improvements in a watershed, it is not necessarily clear what accounts for the predicted impact.

The central takeaway is that policy scholars and practitioners need to think more deeply about why we believe that collaborative groups are an effective vehicle for service delivery and how such delivery can be improved.
