Announcing the 2018 Public Policy Camps

The Public Policy Camp is an initiative to introduce the field of public policy to a group of students who might not otherwise be familiar with it, as well as increase the pipeline of diverse students into APPAM institutional member graduate public policy and public affairs schools. After our inaugural camp at George Washington University, we are thrilled to announce two upcoming Public Policy Camps in September.

Join the APPAM Leadership!

APPAM is soliciting its members for nominations to the APPAM Policy Council and for the positions of President-Elect, Vice-President, and Secretary. All terms will begin in 2018. President-Elect, Vice President, and Secretary are 2-year terms; all Policy Council (Board) positions are 4-year terms. Policy Council members and those elected for officer positions help determine the strategic direction of APPAM and are involved in shaping the focus of the programs that benefit all members.

The membership will elect three individuals to the Policy Council this year: two individuals who work in an academic setting and one individual who works in a non-academic setting.  Service on the Policy Council requires attendance at two Policy Council meetings annually and service on at least one committee throughout the year.

The individuals nominated must be members in good standing. You can self-nominate or put forward the name of a member whom you feel would be an excellent leadership candidate. Please send the name of the person being nominated, organization, and a 250-word statement on why the person would be a good addition to APPAM’s Policy Council.

Please submit your statement to Tara Sheehan, APPAM Executive Director, by Friday, August 11. The selected slate of candidates will be approved at the membership meeting at the Fall Conference and the election will be held in December. Winners will be announced in January 2018.
