APPAM Launches COVID-19 Member Resources, Data and Research Collaboration Hub

As many professional organizations around the globe explore ways that they can contribute to addressing the current public health crisis, APPAM would like to provide members with a platform for interacting and sharing ideas focused around the COVID-19 topic. To that end, we are launching a Resources, Data, and Research Collaboration Hub.

JPAM Finds a New Home at American University

The Journal of Policy Analysis and Management (JPAM) will move to it’s new home at the American University School of Public Affairs in July 2018. Erdal Tekin will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief.

“Professor Tekin has excellent credentials for serving as JPAM’s Editor-in-Chief,” wrote the JPAM Selection Committee. “He is a first-rate academic with a long record of scholarly contributions in the areas of health and demographic economics.”

The main theme of Tekin’s research is the economic analysis of risky behaviors and the consequences of prenatal and postnatal conditions and risk factors on the short and long-term outcomes of individuals on a multitude of domains including health, human capital, labor market, and crime. Tekin holds a PhD in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

APPAM founded JPAM in 1981 as a peer-reviewed quarterly research journal. JPAM is one of the leading journals in the field of public policy and public management. Based on the 2016 Reuters ISI two and five-year impact factors, it is ranked among the top three journals of public administration. In the same year, JPAM was ranked 21st out of 347 economics journals.

JPAM’s current Editor-in-Chief, Kenneth Couch from the University of Connecticut, has served in the role since 2014. Under Couch’s leadership, the impact factor of JPAM continues to rise and the number of submissions has increased from 518 to 548, said APPAM President David Johnson during the Membership Luncheon at the 2017 Fall Research Conference. “The Journal is top ranked and expertly run—we have Ken to thank for that.”

The JPAM editor works with an associate and section editors and a 24-person editorial board. Every year APPAM awards the Raymond Vernon Memorial Prize for the best article published in the current volume of JPAM. Lauren Jones and Nicolas R. Ziebarth received the 2017 award for their article "U.S. Child Safety Seat Laws: Are They Effective and Who Complies?.”
