Interview with Nick Hart: New Evidence-Based Policymaking Initiative

The Bipartisan Policy Center’s Evidence-Based Policymaking Initiative is designed to continue and expand the work of the U.S. Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking, which outlined a vision that rigorous evidence can be created efficiently as a routine part of government operations. In turn, this evidence can be used to construct effective policy.

Mathematica's Experts Present at National Association for Welfare Research and Statistics

Mathematica's experts will present on a variety of topics in welfare, labor, and research methods at this year's National Association for Welfare Research and Statistics to be held August 17 to 20 in Providence, Rhode Island. Scott Cody, vice president and director of Cambridge Human Services Research, and senior fellow (and APPAM Secretary) Matt Stagner are participating in a plenary on data analytics and rapid-cycle evaluation.

Senior researcher Michelle Derr will also participate in a number of conference events. She will discuss recent research on moving recipients of benefits from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to work and discuss implementation findings from the Benefit Offset National Demonstration. Senior researcher Andrew Clarkwest will present on a new systematic evidence review of employment strategies for low-income adults Mathematica is conducting for the Administration for Children & Families, Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation. Senior researcher Alexandra Resch will lead a workshop on opportunistic experiments, low-burden randomized control trials using existing administrative data.
