APPAM-L Email Listserver

Introduction
The purpose of the APPAM-L list-server is to encourage and facilitate communication and information exchange among members of the APPAM community. Anything posted to the APPAM-L will go automatically to everyone subscribed to it, much like a magazine's readership -- only faster and for free. The list-server is located at Social and Scientific Systems, Inc. and is supervised by Social and Scientific Systems, Inc. in consultation with Erik Devereux, APPAM Executive Director. Erik Devereux moderates the list-server and handles any complaints or suggestions about it. When a message is submitted for distribution to the list, Erik Devereux must approve it before it will be sent to all subscribers to the list.

Erik Devereux will use the listserv to make announcements, reports, calls for papers, conference agendas, proceedings, and other information of relevance to the APPAM membership available electronically. Members who wish to communicate with Erik Devereux directly should not use the listserv address, but rather APPAM's e-mail address.

Appropriate uses of the list-server include:
  • announcing the availability of books, reports, research, data or other types of appropriate information;
  • requesting assistance with a research question or problem or with a curriculum issue in public policy and management;
  • announcing other meetings, conferences, fellowships, calls for papers, RFPs, and other professional opportunities;
  • and other announcements of general interest.
The list-server will not distribute the following types of announcements:
  • replies to, or discussion of, messages posted to the list (the list will distribute summaries/compilations/digests of replies if the person who submitted the original message prepares such for distribution;
  • employment opportunities (please post jobs, postdoctoral fellowships and internships at www.PublicServiceCareers.org or look under "Careers" on this website for more information);
  • news of specific academic degree programs (please contact the APPAM office to discuss other means for distributing such information);
  • solicitations for goods and services unrelated to the conduct of research;
  • and other information the moderator deems inappropriate for distribution.
It is important that everyone participating in APPAM-L understand that the proliferation of "spam," email viruses and other Internet hazards has greatly increased the sensitivity of email users to the messages they receive. APPAM strives to ensure that all messages distributed through APPAM-L meet community expectations about the use of the list.
