Thank you for your interest in sponsoring the 2020 APPAM Fall Research Conference!  The conference will be a multi-disciplinary research conference attracting the highest quality research on a wide variety of important current and emerging policy and management issues.  This year’s conference theme, Research across the Policy Lifecycle – Formulation, Implementation, Evaluation and Back Again,  highlights the question of what happens when evidence-based policies or programs meet implementation in real-world organizations and contexts.  We hope this theme will encourage conversations between researchers and practitioners across diverse topical, methodological, and disciplinary perspectives.

REFUND POLICY

APPAM is actively monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and how it may impact the Fall Research Conference this November.  In the event that the conference is to be held in a virtual format, sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers will receive a full or partial refund of their investment, or a credit towards the sponsorship of the 2021 APPAM Fall Research Conference in Austin, Texas.  The Association will have a firm decision on the conference’s format in late summer. 

Sponsors of exhibits, print advertisements, or onsite-only items or events will receive a full refund or a credit in the amount of their investment.  General sponsors will receive a partial refund or credit for the items in their packages that cannot be translated into virtual formats.  No refunds or credits will be given for digital advertisements.

2020 Fall Research Conference General Sponsorship Levels

There are different levels of sponsorship packages for the Fall Conference and recognition will be given to each sponsor at the social and business events, in pre-conference marketing materials, on signage at the conference and on APPAM.org. This is a great opportunity to highlight your program or institution in front of 2,500 potential students and employees.
 

APPAM reserves the right to substitute benefits included in the packages below depending on availability.  All substitutions will be of equal value.  In the event that the conference is held in a solely virtual format, general sponsors will receive a partial refund or credit for the items in their packages that cannot be translated into virtual formats.

Sponsorship Package Item Descriptions:

  • Online Program Advertisements – Banner or Full Tower ads placed on either the Landing (home page), Interior Pages, or Session Listings by Policy Area Pages of the Online Program. An example of ad placement can be found here.

  • Pocket Guide Program Advertisements – Covers, Full Page, and Half Page advertisements are available in the printed Pocket Guide Program available to attendees onsite at the conference. Spaces are limited.

  • Logo Recognition in the Registration Foyer – Platinum and Gold level sponsors will have their logos featured in the Registration Foyer at the conference. 

  • Mobile App Banner Advertisements – Platinum level sponsors will recieve a mobile app banner ad that shows in rotation as attendees use the mobile app to access session details, event times, and create their personal schedules.

  • Mobile App Push Notification Opportunities – Diamond and Platinum level sponsors will have the opportunity to send two notifications through the APPAM Mobile App. Scheduling and content subject to approval by APPAM.

  • Onsite APPAM Magazine Advertisements  Back Cover, Full Page, and Half Page advertisements are available in the printed onsite APPAM Magazine available to attendees onsite at the conference. Spaces are limited.

  • Exhibit Space – Single booths include a 10’ x 10’ exhibit space, 6’ table, two chairs, an ID sign, and a wastebasket.  Sponsors may upgrade to a double booth for an additional $250. The exhibit hall will be the location for all poster sessions and several networking events.

  • Recognition – All sponsors will be recognized in signage throughout the conference space, all conference programs, and in scripted conference remarks.

  • Informational or Logo Collateral – Items may be placed at a Sponsor Table in the Registration Foyer. Popular items include pamphlets, pens, and notebooks; sponsors may place 800 of one item on the sponsor table. Sponsors will be responsible for the production and shipping of the items.

APPAM Communities Lounge – $1,500  / $1,650  

Place your organization’s name and logo on signage throughout the APPAM Communities Lounge!   This lounge will provide a comfortable space for conference attendees to network and discuss important issues relating to shared interesting or innovative research.  The space will be open for the duration of the conference and will be highly visible to all 2,500+ attendees as they flow through registration, receptions, and the exhibit hall.  This is a non-exclusive sponsorship that may be purchased by up to three organizations.

Charging Station – $3,000 / $3,300   

Offer attendees a place to recharge themselves and their devices. This sponsorship includes a branded charging table near the exhibit hall and session rooms.

Conference Lanyards – $6,000  / $6,500  SOLD

Your organization's name and logo will appear on the lanyard of every registration badge given out at the 2020 Fall Research Conference. This is a great opportunity to see your organization's logo around the neck of 2,500+ attendees.

Conference Water Bottles – $5,500 / $6,050     SOLD

Your organization's name and logo will appear on water bottles available to all attendees. The bottles will be placed throughout the conference space including the exhibit hall, session rooms, and registration area. This is a great opportunity to see your organization's logo in the hands of over 2,000 attendees.

Daily Event Email – $1,500 / $1,650 per day 

(Wednesday and Saturday Emails remaining!)

Get the chance to brand APPAM’s daily event emails. The event emails are sent to all registered attendees the day before the event and each day of the conference. These emails will summarize each day’s events and provide a preview of what can be expected the next day. The sponsor(s) of these emails will be recognized in the header and footer of each email as well as in the text with a link to a URL of their choosing.
 
These emails are successfully delivered to 2,500 individuals each day and have open rates of approximately 55%. 
 
All four daily emails can be purchased for $5,000 / $5,500.

Dependent Care Grants – $1,500  / $1,650 

In its second year, the APPAM Dependent Care Grant program offers policy students and young professionals grants of up to $400 each to help cover expenses for additional at-home or on-site dependent care. Your organization's support of this program would support the participation for those who may not be able to attend otherwise!  This is a non-exclusive sponsorship and may be purchased by up to five organizations.

Headshot Lounge – $3,000  / $3,300 

Everyone needs a professional headshot and there's no better time to get one than at APPAM. APPAM will have a headshot photographer onsite both Thursday and Friday of the conference. Photos are free for all conference attendees and they'll be able to receive the images via email immediately after they're taken. Sponsors will have recognition on signage and in the email containing photos.

Hotel Key Cards – $5,500  / $6,050 

Your organization’s logo will be placed on the keycard to all APPAM attendee hotel rooms. This is a great opportunity for your organization’s name and logo to be in the hands of each attendee!

Mobile App – $7,500 / $8,250    SOLD

Your organization’s logo will appear upon each opening of the 2020 Fall Research Conference mobile app as well as on various signage around the conference as the mobile app sponsor. This is a great opportunity to get your logo and organization’s information in the hands of all attendees, most of whom access the app several times throughout the conference. APPAM’s 2019 post conference survey indicated that the mobile app is the most used reference at the event!

Refreshment Break in Exhibit Hall – $1,750 / $1,900 each 

Each afternoon, coffee and refreshments are made available to attendees in the exhibit hall and you could have your organization's name on this great pick-me-up! This sponsorship includes signage on the tables and branded drink cups.  The refreshment breaks will have coffee, tea, water, and daily themes for the snacks. There are three breaks available: Thursday Afternoon, Friday Afternoon, and Saturday Morning.

Satellite Coffee Station - $1,250 / $1,400

So attendees can enjoy a quick cup of coffee between sessions, this year we'll feature satellite coffee stations in the main areas of the conference sessions.  Sponsorship of a coffee station includes signage on the table and cups branded with your organization's logo.  There will be two stations available on each day of the conference.

Wi-Fi Access – $7,500 / $8,250 

Have your organization recognized each time an attendee connects to the internet with the sponsorship of the conference wi-fi.  This sponsorship includes a branded splash page and logo recognition on signage around the conference and in the conference program.

Special Event Sponsorship

We will have several conference events available for non-exclusive sponsorship. All sponsorships include signage at the event, recognition in all conference publications, and the opportunity to provide literature to all event attendees.  In the event the conference is held in a solely-virtual format, sponsors of exhibits, print advertisements, or onsite-only items or events will receive a full refund or a credit in the amount of their investment.  

Daily Wellness Sessions – $300 /  $350 

Help keep APPAM attendees active! Each morning of the conference, attendees will be invited to join their peers in an organized workout before the day's sessions kick off. Thursday morning participants will take part in a 3-mile fun run near the hotel, Friday's participants enjoy a H.I.I.T workout led by a local gym, and Saturday's participants refresh with a flow yoga class. Sponsors of these events will have their name on signage at the event as well as in conference publications. 

Equity & Inclusion Fellowship Luncheon – $3,000 /  $3,300

In its fourth year, APPAM will host an event for the recipients of the 2020 Equity & Inclusion Fellowship. The Fellowship recognizes students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds for their accomplishments and bright futures in the public policy world. 40 Fellowships will be awarded in 2020, joining the other 140 Fellows named in previous award years. The sponsors of this luncheon event will have their organization featured at the event in signage, all conference materials, and in scripted remarks. This is a non-exclusive sponsorship; the event may be sponsored by up to three organizations.

Equity & Inclusion Fellowship Meet Up– $2,000 /  $2,250

The evening before the 2020 Equity and Inclusion Fellows' formal lunch, the Fellows are invited to come together for a private reception to meet their peers and grow their networks. Sponsors will be recognized on signage and will be invited to give welcome remarks before allowing the Fellows to mix and ming.  This is a non-exclusive sponsorship; the event may be sponsored by up to three organizations.

Pre-Conference Workshops – $1,000 / $1,100 

Your organization will be recognized as the sponsor of the 2020 Pre-Conference Workshop.  The workshop takes place on Wednesday, November 7th, just prior to the start of the Fall Research Conference.  The topic is selected through an RFP process and will be decided in June 2020.  Your organization will be acknowledged in scripted remarks as well as in signage and the event program. This is a non-exclusive sponsorship; the event may be sponsored by up to five organizations.

Student Mixer – $1,500 / $1,650

APPAM will host a networking meet-up event for Master’s and PhD students on Friday evening, November 13th. All student attendees are invited to participate and meet other students from all over the world. Your organization can sponsor this event and would be featured on signage, in all promotional material and in remarks throughout the event. This is a non-exclusive sponsorship; the event may be sponsored by up to five organizations.  Past APPAM Student Happy Hours have attracted approximately 100 attendees. 

 


 

2020 Fall Research Conference Advertising Opportunities

There will be four platforms for advertisements at the 2020 Fall Research Conference: the online program, the online registration system, the printed pocket guide program and the onsite edition of APPAM Magazine. The online program at APPAM.org will be seen by everyone who comes to the site to get hotel information, explore networking opportunities at the conference, or looks at the program agenda.  New this year, APPAM is offering the opportunity to purchase ad space during the online registration process.  These premium ad positions ensure that every single conference attendee will see your ad when they register for hte event! The digital ads come with a link back to your website.

In continued efforts to limit our footprint and eliminate waste, APPAM will replace the traditional printed final program with two smaller, more convenient pieces:  a pocket guide and an onsite APPAM Magazine.  The new pocket guide will include listings of special events, conference information, student resources, and a title-only session listing.  At only 3.5" x 8", it will be lightweight and easy for attendees to carry and reference throughout the conference.  The new onsite edition of an APPAM magazine will filled with light reading to help attendees maximize the value of their time at the conference.  The magazine will incude interviews wtih APPAM leadership, Q&A with new and veteran APPAM attendees, introductions of our award winners, and other tips and tricks to get the most out of the event.

The deadline for reserving and submitting digital ads (registration system and online program) is June 30th. The deadline for reserving and submitting print ads (APPAM Magazine or pocket guide) is September 25th.

2020 Fall Research Conference Exhibit Space

APPAM will offer all organizations the opportunity to exhibit at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park for the Fall Research Conference. Exhibit space is limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. This is a great opportunity to promote your program to students, potential employees and the public policy community.

The exhibit area will be designed and managed by an exhibit hall decorating company. As such, it will be easier to order internet, electricity, order furniture and ship your booth materials to and from the conference. The exhibit area will be in the main thoroughfare of the conference events with meeting rooms just all the hall.  The Hall will feature refreshments, a lounge area and charging areas for attendees. With its central location, we anticipate that the exhibit hall will be the central gathering area for all attendees attending the conference. Exhibitors will also be able to submit their preferences for their booth space using the Exhibit Hall Floor Plan in September.

The fee for reserving the exhibit space includes one (1) registration for exhibit personnel. You may register up to three additional personnel at the rate of $250 each. All exhibit personnel must be registered for the conference to gain access to the exhibit space.

Each pipe and draped space will come equipped with a 6’ skirted table, two chairs, a waste basket and an ID sign. The space does not need to be staffed during exhibit hours but the safety and security of the items displayed are the responsibility of the exhibitor. The hall is not able to be locked.

Will your organization be interviewing candidates at the APPAM Conference? Let us take care of the space!

Many institutional members use the Fall Research Conference as a meeting place to interview potential employees. To assist our members, APPAM is pleased to announce Positions in Policy - a service to both share your open roles and connect you with possible candidates who will already be attending the Fall Research Conference.

Post the Position

As a complimentary service to all APPAM Institutional Members, simply send us your open positions and we'll include them on our Job Listings page.  We can post both positions that will be interviewed for at the conference and those that will have a separate interview process.  To post a position, please complete this form and you will be contacted by an APPAM staff member to confirm your post. 

Arranging Interviews

In mid-August, we'll share an employer-only website with profiles and CVs of all registered attendees who are interested in interviewing for new positions at the conference.  Simply review the candidates and reach out directly to set up the interviews.  

Reserve Interview Space

We're happy to provide you with complimentary, private space for to host your interviews. There will be three interview rooms at the conference that may be reserved in one-hour increments throughout the conference days.  Once you reserve the space, you have access to the room for the entire time on the date of your reservation. At the conclusion of the reservation times each day, the room will be refreshed for use by the next organization. Each organization may reserve up to three time slots. Interview space will be available for reservations on August 3, 2020.

PhD Program Fair

Given the success of past PhD Program Fairs, APPAM will once again host the Fair at this year’s conference in DC.  The Fair is open to any policy PhD program that is interested in sharing details of their program with conference attendees, though space is limited and can be reserved on a first come, first served basis.  Each space includes a six-foot, draped table with two chairs.  Please submit all space requests no later than September 25, 2020.  Space is complimentary for APPAM Institutional Members and $150 for non-members.

The PhD Program Fair will be held on Friday, November 13th, 12:00 pm – 1:15 pm.  A program representative is required to staff the booth for the full event time.  The event is open to all student attendees not currently enrolled in a PhD program as well as any attendee who does not have a doctorate degree.  A complimentary light lunch will be available to all attendees and program representatives.

Affiliate Reception

If your institution is interested in hosting a reception or meeting during the conference and would like to utilize space in the hotel, please complete the form below.  APPAM will assign all space based on expected attendance and order of request. Organizations will arrange all room set up, catering, and AV orders directly with the hotel once space has been assigned.  Please be aware that space will only be available in the evening of Friday, November 13th.
  
IMPORTANT:  To reserve space for an affiliate reception, please fill this form and return to Tristanne Staudt at tstaudt@appam.org.  If you have questions, please call 202.496.0130. Please submit your form by July 31st.  Space will be assigned after the deadline and communicated to you for marketing purposes.  Should the size of your event change, APPAM reserves the right to reassign your event to a room that is closer to expected attendance, based on final RSVP numbers. 

  • The APPAM Presidential Address is on Friday, November 13th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm and is followed by the Presidential Reception from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.  Receptions may not begin before 6:30 pm. 
     
  • You will be assigned space for your reception by APPAM. A Washington Marriott Wardman Park Catering Representative will send menus with a request for your food and beverage order once you room has been assigned.  All billing will be handled by Washington Marriott Wardman Park.
     
  • APPAM will print an announcement of your reception for free in the final conference program book, as long as you grant permission on the provided form.
