#2021APPAM Fall Research Conference Sponsorship Information

Thank you for your interest in sponsoring the 2021 APPAM Fall Research Conference!  The conference will be a multi-disciplinary research conference attracting the highest quality research on a wide variety of important current and emerging policy and management issues.  This year’s conference theme, The Power of Inclusion: Incorporating Diverse Voices in Public Policy Analysis and Management,  highlights the need for more inclusive research practices as many organizations, including APPAM, now recognize the value of increasing the number of professionals from underrepresented groups contributing to the field. The conference will feature sessions that demonstrate how the inclusion of diverse voices and perspectives in all phases of policy analysis and management will strengthen the field while making our work product better and more relevant.

While #2021APPAM is scheduled to be an in-person event with very limited virtual opportunities, we are actively monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and will announce any event format changes as they become available.  

Refund Policy

APPAM is actively monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and how it may impact the Fall Research Conference this November.  In the event that the conference is to be held in a fully-virtual format, sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers will receive a full or partial refund of their investment, or a credit towards the sponsorship of the 2022 APPAM Fall Research Conference.  The Association will have a firm decision on the conference’s format in late summer. 

Sponsors of exhibits, print advertisements, or onsite-only items or events will receive a full refund or a credit in the amount of their investment.  General sponsors will receive a partial refund or credit for the items in their packages that cannot be translated into virtual formats.  No refunds or credits will be given for digital advertisements.

 
To submit a sponsorship order, please complete this form and return it to APPAM, via email to Samantha Oliver Thomason at soliver@appam.org. We'll begin accepting orders on Wednesday, April 21st at 2 PM EDT. Limited sponsorship items will be selected on a first come, first serve basis. Orders will not be accepted without payment information.

2021 Fall Research Conference General Sponsorship Levels

There are different levels of sponsorship packages for the Fall Conference and recognition will be given to each sponsor at the social and business events, in pre-conference marketing materials, and on APPAM.org. This is a great opportunity to highlight your program or institution in front of 2,300 potential students and employees.
 

APPAM reserves the right to substitute benefits included in the packages below depending on availability.  All substitutions will be of equal value.  In the event that the conference is held in a solely virtual format, general sponsors will receive a partial refund or credit for the items in their packages that cannot be translated into virtual formats.

Sponsorship Package Item Descriptions:

  • Mobile App - As in previous years, the Mobile App is the most up to date way to access conference information while at the conference.  All sponsors and exhibitors will be recognized through the Sponsors & Exhibitors section of the map and banner ads will be available for Platinum Sponsors.

  • Online Program Advertisements – Banner or Full Tower ads placed on either the Landing (home page), Interior Pages, or Session Listings by Policy Area Pages of the Online Program. An example of ad placement can be found here.

  • Onsite Magazine Advertisements - Full or Half Page ads are available in the new Onsite Magazine.  The Magazine will serve as a guide for maximizing value at the conference and will feature articles on special events, interviews from a variety of new and seasoned attendees, and digestible tips for making the most of your time at the event.

  • Pocket Guide Program - Replacing the full printed program of years past, the Pocket Guide Program will feature limited full and half page ads.  The Pocket Guide Program will be an easy-to-carry guide that provides attendees with a high-level schedule of events, maps, and other necessary conference information.

  • Profile Feature – APPAM will launch a Sponsorship Spotlight Series while we highlight the work or mission of each conference sponsor.  APPAM Staff will work with the sponsor to create a profile on APPAM.org and it will be shared via social media.
     
  • Recognition – All sponsors will be recognized in the online program, APPAM.org, and in scripted conference remarks.
     
  • Registration System Advertisements - Half tower ads are available for placement in the online registration system.  Up to eight ads will rotate as attendees advance through the registration process.  

 


 

2021 Fall Research Conference Additional Sponsorship Items

In addition to the general conference sponsorship levels, there are also several individual items available for sponsorship.  In the event the conference is held in a solely-virtual format, sponsors of exhibits, print advertisements, or onsite-only items or events will receive a full refund or a credit in the amount of their investment.  

All prices are listed as member/non-member. For example, $1,000 / $1,100, is $1,000 for APPAM institutional members and $1,100 for institutional non-members.

APPAM Communities Lounge – $1,500 / $1,650 

Place your organization’s name and logo on signage throughout the APPAM Communities Lounge near the Exhibit Hall! This lounge will provide a comfortable space for conference attendees to network and discuss issues and research that are important to them. Communities will be named via a submission process and scheduled at times throughout the three-day conference. 
 

Charging Station – $3,000 / $3,300 

Offer attendees a place to recharge themselves and their devices. This sponsorship includes a branded charging table near the exhibit hall and session rooms. 
 

Conference Water Bottles – $5,500 / $6,050 

Your organization's name and logo will appear on water bottles available to all attendees. The bottles will be placed throughout the conference space including the exhibit hall, session rooms, and registration area. This is a great opportunity to see your organization's logo in the hands of over 2,300 attendees.
 

Daily Event Email – $1,500 / $1,650 per day 

Get the chance to brand APPAM’s daily event emails. The event emails are sent to all registered attendees the day before the event and each day of the conference. These emails will summarize each day’s events and provide a preview of what can be expected the next day. The sponsor(s) of these emails will be recognized in the header and footer of each email as well as in the text with a link to a URL of their choosing.
 
These emails are successfully delivered to 2,300 individuals each day and have open rates of approximately 55%. 
 
All four daily emails can be purchased for $5,000 / $5,500.
 

Dependent Care Grants – $1,500 / $1,650

In its third year, the APPAM Dependent Care Grant program offers policy students and young professionals grants of up to $400 each to help cover expenses for additional at-home or on-site dependent care. Your organization's support of this program would support the participation for those who may not be able to attend otherwise!  This is a non-exclusive sponsorship and may be purchased by up to five organizations.
 
 

Hand Sanitizer Stations – $500 / $550

Hand sanitizing stations are crucial to safely hosting an in-person event.  Each station sponsorship will place your organization's logo on one sanitizing station located in high-traffic areas of the conference. The station will be refilled throughout the event to ensure all attendees are able to sanitize as needed. There will be 8 stations, 1 max per sponsor.
 

Hotel Key Cards – $5,500 / $6,050

Your organization’s logo will be placed on the keycard to all APPAM attendee hotel rooms. This is a great opportunity for your organization’s name and logo to be in the hands of each attendee!
 

Exhibit Hall Refreshment Break – $1,750 / $1,925

Each afternoon, coffee and refreshments are made available to attendees and you could have your organization's name on this great pick-me-up! This sponsorship includes signage on the tables and branded drink cups.  The refreshment breaks will have coffee, tea, water, and daily themes for the snacks. There are three breaks available: Thursday Afternoon, Friday Afternoon, and Saturday Morning.
 

Mobile App – $7,500 / $8,250

Your organization’s logo will appear on the landing page of the 2021 Fall Research Conference mobile app as well as on various signage around the conference as the mobile app sponsor. This is a great opportunity to get your logo and organization’s information in the hands of all attendees, most of whom say the mobile app is their top resource for navigating the event. 
 

Satellite Coffee Station – $1,250 / $1,375

So attendees can enjoy a quick cup of coffee between sessions, satellite coffee stations will be featured in the main areas of the conference sessions. Sponsorship of a coffee station includes signage on the table and cups branded with your organization's logo. There will be two stations available on each day of the conference.
 

Session Streaming Partner – $2,500 / $2,750

We understand that some attendees still may not be able to attend the conference in-person this year.  To accommodate this, we'll be streaming all Super Sessions, special events, and select concurrent panels and roundtables throughout the conference.  The session streaming partner sponsorship will make these efforts possible by supporting the necessary AV and internet requirements.  The sponsor's logo will be featured on signage in the session rooms as well as at the beginning of each streamed session.
 

Wi-Fi Access – $7,500 / $8,250

Have your organization recognized each time an attendee connects to the internet with the sponsorship of the conference wi-fi. This sponsorship includes a branded splash page and logo recognition on signage around the conference and in the conference program.
 

 


 

2021 Fall Research Conference Sponsored Events

In addition to the general conference sponsorship levels and sponsored items, there are also several events available for sponsorship.  In the event the conference is held in a solely-virtual format, sponsors of events will receive a full refund or a credit in the amount of their investment.

Daily Wellness Sessions – $300 / $330 

Help keep APPAM attendees active! Each morning of the conference, attendees will be invited to join their peers in an organized workout before the day's sessions kick off. Thursday morning participants will take part in a 3-mile fun run near the hotel, Friday's participants enjoy a H.I.I.T workout led by a local gym, and Saturday's participants refresh with a flow yoga class. Sponsors of these events will have their name on signage at the event as well as in conference publications.
 

Equity and Inclusion Fellowship Meet Up – $2,000 / $2,200 

The evening before the 2020 and 2021 Equity and Inclusion Fellows' formal lunch, the Fellows are invited to come together for a private reception to meet their peers and grow their networks. Sponsors will be recognized on signage and will be invited to give welcome remarks before allowing the Fellows to mix and mingle.  This event is non-exclusive and may be sponsored by up to three organizations.
 

Equity and Inclusion Fellowship Lunch – $3,000 / $3,300 

APPAM will host a programmed lunch for the recipients of the 2020 and 2021 Equity & Inclusion Fellowship on Friday, November 13th. The Fellowship recognizes students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds for their accomplishments and bright futures in the public policy world. The sponsors of this luncheon event will have their organization featured at the event in signage, all conference materials, and in scripted remarks.  This event is non-exclusive and may be sponsored by up to three organizations.
 

Pre-Conference Workshop – $1,000 / $1,100

Pre-Conference Workshop. The workshop takes place on Wednesday, November 10th, just prior to the start of the Fall Research Conference. The topic is selected through an RFP process and will be decided in late summer 2021. Your organization will be acknowledged in scripted remarks as well as in signage and the event program. This is a non-exclusive sponsorship and may be sponsored by up to five events. 

 

Student Mixer – $1,500 / $1,650

APPAM will host a networking meet-up event for Master’s and PhD students on the Friday, November 12th. All student attendees are invited to participate and meet other students from all over the world. Your organization can sponsor this event and would be featured on signage, in all promotional material and in remarks throughout the event. This is a non-exclusive sponsorship and may be purchased by up to five organizations.
 
 

 

2021 Fall Research Conference Advertising Opportunities

Digital Ads

There will be two platforms for digital advertisements at the 2021 APPAM Fall Research Conference: the online program and the online registration system. The online program at APPAM.org will be seen by everyone who comes to the site to get hotel information, explore networking opportunities at the conference, or looks at the program agenda.  APPAM is also offering the opportunity to purchase ad space during the online registration process.  These premium ad positions ensure that every single conference attendee will see your ad when they register for the event! All digital ads come with a link back to your website.

Please see the advertisement specification documents below for particulars on formats for the digital ads and how to submit them. The deadline for reserving and submitting digital ads (registration system and online program) is June 30th

Print Ads

In addition to digital ads, there will be two platforms for print advertisements at the 2021 APPAM Fall Research Conference: the pocket guide program and the onsite magazine. The new pocket guide program will replace the full printed program used in previous years.  This condensed version will be easier to carry and will feature a high-level schedule of all events and sessions at the conference.  The onsite magazine, another new printed piece, will feature interview, tips, and articles about the conference including how to maximize your experience through sessions, networking, and more!  Both printed pieces will be available to all 2,300 attendees.

Interview_Space

Post the Position

As a complimentary service to all APPAM Institutional Members, simply send us your open positions and we'll include them on our Job Listings page.  To post a position, please complete this form and you will be contacted by an APPAM staff member to confirm your post. Non-members wishing to participate in the Positions in Policy program will be charged a $150 fee which includes posting up to three positions.

Reserve Interview Space

All organizations participating in Positions in Policy will have access to private interview space at the JW Marriott Austin, the conference hotel. More details on reserving these spaces will be available over the summer.

Arranging Interviews

In early-September, we'll share an employer-only website with profiles and CVs of all registered attendees who are interested in interviewing for new positions at the conference.  Simply review the candidates and reach out directly to set up the interviews either in your reserved conference space or through your own channels.

PhD Program Fair

Given the success of past PhD Program Fairs, APPAM will once again host the Fair at this year’s conference in DC.  The Fair is open to any policy PhD program that is interested in sharing details of their program with conference attendees.  More information about this event will be available in mid-summer.


Affiliate Receptions

If your institution is interested in hosting a reception or meeting during the conference and would like to utilize space in the hotel, please complete the form below.  APPAM will assign all space based on expected attendance and order of request. Organizations will arrange all room set up, catering, and AV orders directly with the hotel once space has been assigned.  Please be aware that space will only be available on Friday, November 12th.
  

IMPORTANT:  To reserve space for an affiliate reception, please fill this form and return to APPAM at info@appam.org. Please submit your form by August 31st.  Space will be assigned after the deadline and communicated to you for marketing purposes.  Should the size of your event change, APPAM reserves the right to reassign your event to a room that is closer to expected attendance, based on final RSVP numbers. 

The APPAM Presidential Address is on Friday, November 12th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Receptions may not begin before 7:00 pm. You will be assigned space for your reception by APPAM. A JW Marriott Austin Catering Representative will send menus with a request for your food and beverage order once you room has been assigned.  All billing will be handled by the hotel.
 
APPAM will print an announcement of your reception for free in the final conference program book, as long as you grant permission on the provided form.
