As many professional organizations around the globe explore ways that they can contribute to addressing the current public health crisis, APPAM would like to provide members with a platform for interacting and sharing ideas focused around the COVID-19 topic.
To that end, we are launching a Resources, Data, and Research Collaboration Hub.
Materials shared on the Collaboration Hub could include:
- Teaching: resources or materials for distance or e-learning topics related to the crisis.
- Policy: discussion on ways that we may be of public service for assisting emerging needs of federal, state and local government, social service providers, etc.
- Research: resources for research, data or materials that are important during the COVID-19 outbreak, things like public health data, economics resources or access to networks.
Although typical administrative and survey data emerge with significant lags, members may have access to innovative data resources that enable more immediate evidence that can inform public affairs. The Collaboration Hub will operate through Slack™, in a workspace exclusively for the Hub.
Slack™ is an innovative and widely-used collaboration tool that enables users to share and work together, focused around channels and direct messaging. Through Slack, members can share documents and links, as well as comment and chat about each channel's subject matter. if you want more info, check out slack's site or get more details once you join.
We know that a lot of this resource-sharing and conversation is happening informally already on social media. As the academic and professional association encompassing many types of members, we would like to formalize it somewhat by placing resources in one place, divided by policy area or general subject, along with an opportunity to connect/chat with others directly around the resources.
