For those conducting, funding, and supporting research activities, there is an increased pressure to demonstrate the value and impact of their work beyond academia. Societal change, and in particular where research has influenced policy, is one way to demonstrate tangible research impact. Overton, the world’s largest database of policy documents and gray literature, helps research stakeholders navigate the research-to-policy interface, enabling exploration of where academic research has been cited or mentioned in policy documents. As part of our ongoing commitment to evidence-informed policymaking, we run an annual grant program that funds projects that use and analyze our policy citation data to expand our understanding of the field.

During this webinar session, we’ll discuss the importance of policy citation data and showcase innovative past projects funded by the grant program that have used policy data to expand our understanding of policy citation networks.

There will be a series of ‘lightning talks’ from past grant awardees, highlighting their work and sharing their findings and results. We’ll also share practical information on the application process for the 2026-2027 Policy Impact Grant cycle.
