Exciting Changes for 2026!
We are excited to announce that the APPAM Equity and Inclusion Fellowship has been renamed the APPAM Excellence, Equity, and Inclusion (EEI) Fellowship.
Since 2016, this APPAM Fellowship has supported over 300 researchers in their pursuit of education and careers in public policy, analysis, and management. Recipients receive travel, registration, and lodging for the APPAM Annual Fall Research Conference, distinguished recognition, and networking & leadership opportunities. The Fellowship has been renamed to fully reflect the academic excellence, merit, and leadership of its esteemed recipients.
In addition to the new name, the Fellowship size and duration have been redesigned to enhance the experience for recipients. The program is shifting from a one-year model to a more intentional two-year model, and it will be limited to 26 recipients to prioritize meaningful connection, engagement, and sustained participation. Our hope is that smaller, extended cohorts will help build lasting relationships, community, and growth in the field of public policy. A smaller, more intimate cohort size will underscore that this is a competitive & distinguished honor.
Additionally, the role of Excellence, Equity, and Inclusion (EEI) Fellow Liaison has been created to provide valuable insights from a recent Fellow’s perspective and help keep past and current Fellowship cohorts connected, engaged, and up to date on the organization, while also gaining valuable leadership experience. The EEI Fellow Liaison will serve as an at-large committee member on APPAM’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee.
About the APPAM Excellence, Equity, and Inclusion (EEI) Fellowship
We are proud to offer the Equity & Inclusion Fellowship to students and professionals who have overcome substantial obstacles presented by their backgrounds or life circumstances.
Since 2016, the Fellowship has supported hundreds of people pursuing education and starting their careers by sponsoring their visit to the Annual Fall Research Conference, recognizing their accomplishments, and providing opportunities to engage with a wide network of peers.
Through the Fellowship, we hope to expand opportunities in public policy and spark lifelong interest in the field.
We are currently offering the Equity & Inclusion Fellowship to three separate cohorts. All fellows must be available to travel to the Annual Fall Research Conference (location varies by year). See full eligibility requirements on the applications below.
