Institutional Membership Benefits

Institutional Membership with APPAM provides professional development opportunities, education, a community of peers, and more.

Institutional Members have exclusive access to discounts and promotional opportunities with APPAM’s audience. Additionally, Institutional Members are offered unique benefits at our Annual Fall Research Conference.

Institutional Members are part of the Committee of Institutional Representatives and play a key role in steering the association. The Committee meets twice a year (and can connect at other times in between) to discuss issues of importance to all Institutional Members, such as academic trends, pedagogy, enrollment statistics, and employment readiness for graduate students. This community offers a great opportunity to connect with other academics, practitioners, think tanks, government agencies, research organizations, and other stakeholders engaged in the practice and dissemination of research.

  • While Institutional Membership does not confer individual membership to all staff at a member organization, Institutional Members receive several complimentary memberships to provide staff or students at their discretion.
  • We welcome multiple units within an organization to join as Institutional Members, so that each may have their own representative, member benefits, and listing within the member directory.

APPAM Communities

E-Lists

APPAM strives to provide our members with access to a broad collection of tools, content, practical resources, and a smart and vibrant community of peers via the E-List Member Forum Communities. These groups serve as a platform to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in ongoing conversations.

Membership Directory

This members-only Institutional and Individual Member database allows you to search for colleagues based on location, research topic, and member type. Did you meet someone at the last conference you attended? Many members build future research collaborations by connecting via the directory.

Policy Council Voting and Nominations

The Committee of Institutional Members elects one person to the Policy Council each year. Institutional Members can also nominate students for various APPAM opportunities and awards throughout the year, including Student Representatives to the Policy Council.

Westat’s APPAM institutional membership has been a tremendous source of value to our organization. Through APPAM, we are part of a strong community of experts-researchers, practitioners, and peer organizations-working to improve people’s lives through the impact of public policy. We benefit not only from APPAM’s professional network, but also the opportunities to drive engagement with our work and mission that are available to institutional members. I served as APPAM’s Institutional Representatives Chair for two years and during that time, I became even more engaged in the organization and saw up close all the good APPAM does. I am proud to be part of this great group of people doing meaningful work.
