A Message from Erdal Tekin, JPAM Editor-in-Chief

The Journal of Policy Analysis and Management (JPAM) is pleased to announce some exciting internal updates regarding role changes within the journal. First, we would like to express our gratitude to Paul Decker, the President and CEO of Mathematica, who has served as the Associate Editor of the Point/Counterpoint (P/CP) column. During his tenure, Paul Decker, along with his assistant, Kevin Kelly, has played a pivotal role in publishing thought-provoking Point/Counterpoint (P/CP) columns that have had a significant impact on policy debates surrounding some of the most timely and critical policy issues of our time. Additionally, Paul's support, along with Mathematica's, has been instrumental in JPAM’s efforts to enhance its policy impact through public events. Many of these events have featured topics featured in the P/CP column, including the recent forum on the Biden Administration's student loan forgiveness plan held at the National Press Club in Washington D.C.
We are thrilled to welcome Maria Cancian, the Dean of the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, as the new Associate Editor for the Point/Counterpoint column. Maria brings a wealth of expertise and leadership that will undoubtedly drive the column's progress and further its impact.
Moreover, we bid farewell to
Burt Barnow from George Washington University, who has served as the Associate Editor for the Methods section. Burt's dedication and service to the journal have been greatly appreciated, and we are grateful for his contributions over the years.
To continue the excellence of the Methods section, we are delighted to introduce
Jeffrey Smith as the new face of the Methods section. Jeffrey holds the positions of Paul T. Heyne Distinguished Chair in Economics and Richard A. Meese Chair in Applied Econometrics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His expertise and knowledge will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing success of the Methods section.
These role changes within JPAM reflect our commitment to maintaining the high standards of scholarship and impact of our journal. We are confident that Maria Cancian and Jeffrey Smith will bring valuable perspectives and contributions to their respective roles, further advancing the mission of JPAM.
