APPAM Regional Student Conference - CA




The CA Regional Student Conference will be held on April 9th - 10th, 2017 at California Regional Student Conference, Riverside, CA. During this conference, students will present research across a wide variety of policy areas, through poster sessions and on conference panels with their peers.

Participating students will gain valuable research presentation experience, as well as receive important feedback from academics, practitioners, and other students. Students will have several opportunities to network and make connections with a diverse group of policy professionals, as well as other policy students. Attendees at the California Regional Student Conference will see 26 panels, 94 student panel presenters, and 16 poster presentations.

  • November 30: Submissions Open
  • January 31: Submission Deadline
  • February 24: Accept/Reject Notices Delivered
  • February 28: Registration Opens
  • March 6: Registration Deadline for Presenters
  • March 17: Hotel Room Block Reservation Deadline
  • March 24: Final/updated papers/projects due to panel chairs/discussants
  • March 31: Registration Closes
  • April 9 – 10: California Regional Student Conference, Riverside, CA

Registration for the 2017 Regional Student Conference in CA is now open! The registration rate for all attendees, including student presenters, is $25.00. This fee includes breakfast and lunch each day and a networking reception.

Schedule at a Glance

Sunday, April 9th
  • 9:00 – 10:00am: Registration and Breakfast  
  • 10:00 – 11:30am: Concurrent Sessions (room assignments will be posted in the coming weeks)
  • 11:45 – 1:15pm: Concurrent Sessions 
  • 1:30 – 2:30pm: Lunch & Keynote Address
  • 2:45 – 4:15pm: Concurrent Sessions 
  • 4:30 – 6:30pm: Networking Reception & Poster Session
    • All attendees are encouraged to attend this reception to connect with their fellow students and make connections with other policy professionals in the CA area over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to view student poster presentations and speak with authors.  
Monday, April 10th 
  • 8:00 – 9:00am: Registration and Breakfast 
  • 9:00 – 10:30am: Concurrent Sessions (room assignments will be posted in the coming weeks)
  • 10:45 – 12:15pm: Concurrent Sessions 
  • 12:30 – 2:15pm: Lunch and Policy Career Paths Workshop
    • This “lessons learned” workshop will feature experienced policy professions who will discuss key attributes employers seek when hiring, CV pointers, interviewing tips, and what policy job search experience entails.  Panelists from the public and private sectors will describe their professional career path, helpful tips they learned along the way, and what resume “must haves” students should ensure to obtain.  
  • 2:15 – 3:45pm: Concurrent Sessions
