Lunch Workshop:

Use of Social Media to Promote Your Policy Research

Is there a science to communicating about research? Research articles are not automatically cited by the media, shared on social media, or referenced by policymakers. Today, you need to plan and promote to gain attention for your work. Join us to learn more about best practices in this area. During the session, communication and social media experts will discuss ways to use social media to expand the audience for your research. Attendees will learn how to disseminate their research across social media networks and how to influence policymakers by distributing research findings outside of traditional channels.

  • Jake Ford, MPP Student, McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown (Moderator)
  • Jennifer Doleac, Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Economics, University of Virginia, @jenniferdoleac
  • Dan Kaplan, Director of Communications, IMPAQ International, @impaqint
  • Tarvaris McCoy, PhD Student, Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Liza Morris, TEDx American University and Principal, +Alkemi, @liza_m
