This year we're doing something different.

In recent years, APPAM has consistently developed more resources and opportunities for our student and early career professional members. To build on that momentum as we celebrate our 40th Annual Fall Research Conference, APPAM introduces the 40 for 40 Fellowship.

This 2018-exclusive program will provide funding for 40 outstanding early career research professionals to attend the Fall Research Conference – the premier research conference attracting the highest-quality work on a wide variety of current and emerging policy and management issues.

We are pleased to announce the winners of 40 for 40 Fellowship!

The 40 for 40 Fellowship is a donor-funded program, providing a unique way for the policy community to support its rising members. The Fellowship covers travel, hotel, and registration expenses.

The essential work from early-career professionals will shape the future of public policy research. Our goal is to provide opportunities for these scholars to grow their professional networks and share their research with the broader policy audience.

We are thrilled to commemorate the 40th Annual Fall Research Conference by honoring the contributions of early career scholars.

Thank you to all who have donated!

Fellowship donors will be acknowledged throughout the conference and by APPAM President David Johnson at the Membership and Awards Breakfast at the Fall Research Conference.

Never has rigorous policy evidence been more important. We need to continue to attract and support newer professionals to grow and improve our field. The 40 for 40 Fellowship is one small way to support their work and connect them to the learning network that APPAM provides."

Matthew Stagner, APPAM President-Elect
and Mathematica Policy Research Vice President

How is the Fellowship Funded?

The 40 for 40 Fellowship will be solely funded by donor-contributions to the newly established Ruby Fund, a term selected in a nod to the 40th anniversary of APPAM Fall Research Conference. The Ruby Fund was created with the sole intent to support the advancement of early career professionals in the public policy community through participation in APPAM events.

We're only able to honor the number of individuals for which we have raised funds. Help ensure that we're able to name all 40 fellows by donating today! Collection closes on September 28th.

The returns to networking and engaging with the latest research are undoubtedly higher for emerging scholars than any other group. Let’s give them this lift—APPAM 40 for 40!"

Carolyn Heinrich, APPAM Past President,
Vanderbilt University Professor and Co-Director of the International
Education Policy and Management Program

We recognize that the future of public policy research greatly depends on the meaningful work of these professionals and as such believe they should have opportunities to share their research and the impacts it has in the policy world. This is truly a unique way allow the policy community to support its rising members!

One hundred percent of donations to the Ruby Fund are tax-deductible and will go directly towards the goal of including outstanding research by early career professionals into APPAM and its events.
