The submission period for the 2018 Fall Research Conference opens on February 5. All submissions are due by April 11, 2018. The 2018 conference will emphasize the iterative and collaborative nature of building evidence. We aim to engage researchers, policy makers, and program leaders in thoughtful discussions about how best to collect data, capture innovation, measure impacts, and identify actionable and timely recommendations.

The 2018 APPAM Fall Research Conference will celebrate APPAM's 40th conference on November 8 - 10 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. This year's event will focus on improving programs and policies by generating and engaging with evidence throughout the policy analysis and management process.

The 2018 APPAM International Conference in Mexico City, Mexico, will be held on July 19 – 20, 2018. Join us at the campus of the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). The LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and the Instituto Tecnólogico Autónomo de México (ITAM) are jointly organizing the 2018 conference.

Member Forum: At the Intersection of Data Science and Social Science

The proliferation of new digital data sources and the development of new programming languages that can quickly make sense of these data are changing the nature of how public policy makers and the general public understand how government works – and when it doesn’t. This discussion will focus on the road ahead for data and social science, how to communicate better when the lanes merge, and what this all means for getting to better-informed policies and programs that improve public well-being.

Registration includes access to all sessions, continental breakfast each day, refreshments breaks each day, receptions each evening, lunch on Thursday and Saturday, and all other non-ticketed conference activities. A Schedule at a Glance is available online and the more detailed Preliminary Program will be available soon.

You will have the opportunity during the registration process to include the below conference add-ons to your registration. While not all of these events have a cost associated with them, they do require an RSVP to attend. If you have already registered and would like to add-on one of these events, please contact Meghan Grenda, mgrenda@appam.org to modify your registration. In order to receive member pricing, you must be a current individual APPAM member in good standing. If you need to renew your membership, you must renew your membership first, including payment, before registering for the conference or you will not receive the member price. If you're not sure of your member status or need assistance with renewal/joining APPAM, please contact Meghan Grenda at mgrenda@appam.org

If you wish to register as a student for the Fall Research Conference, you must first join APPAM as a student member. The cost of an APPAM student membership is $40 and can be purchased here or onsite.

APPAM will once again offer a discounted registration rate for government employees. Any local, state, or federal employee with a valid .gov email address is eligible to receive a 15% discount off the current registration rate. To receive this discount, please contract Meghan Grenda at mgrenda@appam.org for a promotional code to use during the online registration process.  This discount will only be offered on pre-registrations (7/15 - 11/6), and will not be offered for onsite registrations.

Registrations can be cancelled and refunded until September 30th, minus a $30 administration fee.  After September 30th, no refunds will be given for cancelled registrations.

The Registration Booth is located in the Hyatt Regency Miami on the Lobby Level and will be open during the following hours:

Registrations can be made using domestic checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express cards. We cannot accept foreign money orders or bank transfers from individuals. Please note that during the registration process, you will be given opportunity to print an invoice for your registration.

Everyone presenting a paper or poster, taking part in a roundtable or acting as a chair or discussant must register and pay for the conference. APPAM requires everyone presenting papers on panels to register by Friday, September 30. APPAM reserves the right to remove/replace papers from the conference if panelists do not register by this date.

Join fellow members for the annual APPAM membership meeting and support your colleagues as various awards are presented to the 2015 winners including: Raymond Vernon Memorial Award, Thomas S. Dee, Stanford University and James H. Wyckoff, University of Virginia; Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award, Manasi Deshpande, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Exemplar Award. After lunch, hear the Exemplar Award winner Rebecca Blank, Chancellor, University of Wisconsin - Madison give give her lecture, Managing Big Public Institutions: Stories from the Front Lines.

A separate ticket is required for lunch (but not to attend the business meeting) and can be purchased during the registration process and at the onsite Registration desk until 11:45 am on Friday, 11/13.
