#2021APPAM COVID-19 Health & Safety

APPAM is excited to host our rescheduled 2021 Fall Research Conference in Austin, Texas, this March 27-29! At APPAM, your safety is our number one priority and we have been working to put measures into place to protect your health so you can focus on the conference. See below for an update on our COVID-19 safety policies.

Masks

Attendees are required to wear masks. We encourage you to respect your fellow attendees by consistently wearing a mask inside. We’re excited to be able to provide attendees with APPAM branded masks!

Since Texas does not have a mask mandate, the mask requirements are in our meeting space only, not the entire hotel, but we encourage you to wear your masks throughout the hotel and anywhere you may visit in Austin.

Vaccines

Vaccines are required to attend the conference in-person. All attendees must upload a picture of your vaccination card into our database during registration. You must be fully vaccinated by March 12 to attend in-person. Boosters are encouraged but not required for attendance. If you have already registered for the conference, please make sure to send your vaccination card to registration@appam.org or bring it onsite. If you will be getting your vaccination after you register, please bring your vaccine card to onsite registration. We encourage all attendees to bring a physical, electronic or photocopy of their vaccine card to the conference. View our privacy policy here.

If you prefer to show your vaccination card onsite, rather than sharing it electronically, please email registration@appam.org to let us know. We will hold your badge at the registration desk until your vaccination card has been verified by an APPAM staff member in-person.

Health Check

We will not be offering any testing onsite through APPAM. We highly recommend testing pre-travel to the conference. FREE test kits are available to order here.

If you feel sick or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms prior to traveling or while onsite in Austin, we encourage you to reconsider your participation in the conference. APPAM is committed to robust communication throughout the conference. Make sure to download the conference app (coming in late February) and monitor APPAM social media for live updates during the conference.

Sessions

Presenting at APPAM? Unfortunately, we cannot accept additional virtual presentation requests. This means that if you agreed to present your research in-person, you will need to present in-person. However, if you agreed to present your research virtually and want to switch to in-person, we will do our best to accommodate those requests based on availability.

Currently we are offering about 50 sessions in either virtual or hybrid format for virtual attendees. You will receive a separate email shortly with your presentation details and instructions on how to withdraw, change presenting authors, and make other submission revisions. If you have questions about your submission, please email conferencesupport@appam.org.

Submissions for the November 2022 conference in Washington D.C. open in early February, so if you must withdraw, we hope you resubmit for the fall and join us there!

Deposits and Fees

Because we know that things can change quickly these days, we are waiving our registration cancellation fees and first night’s non-refundable hotel room deposit fees.

If you still have questions regarding your health and safety at the 2021 Fall Research Conference, please email info@appam.org.
