A key part of APPAM’s Strategic Plan is to “expand efforts to create a more diverse membership – with attention especially to race/ethnicity.” Because we are a data-driven organization, we need your help to collect better data and to make progress on this important goal. We will begin collecting data this month on the demographic identities of our members and conference participants to establish baseline diversity statistics. Providing this information will be voluntary: your decision to provide it will not affect the review of your conference submissions this year or your membership status.
The information you provide will not be included in the public membership database. These data will only be used by APPAM to analyze our current inclusion efforts and to further promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all our programming. We recognize that improving demographic representation itself is not sufficient for achieving equity and inclusion, but it is a necessary first step.
To help APPAM with these efforts, we are asking that members log in to their APPAM.org account before March 31st and update their information. Specific demographic questions that we are collecting include age, gender, race, ethnicity, and sexuality, among others. To thank members for their efforts, they will be entered into a drawing to win one of ten $50.00 Amazon gift cards. Just by updating your information by 3/31/2021 you will be entered in the drawing. A random drawing of all members who have updated demographic information will be conducted in the first week of April and digital Amazon gift cards will be sent to the e-mail address on file.

All demographic questions will be added to future forms or can be updated at any time through your profile should you wish to change responses. To update your information:
1. Login to APPAM.org using your login ID and Password. (If you are unsure of your login ID it should be the e-mail address where you are receiving this e-mail.)
2. Select “My Profile & Invoices” under the name tag.
3. On the following page, select “Edit”, across from your Username.
4. Once the edit screen has opened, you may update all information. To be entered to the Amazon drawing you should focus on the following:

Race and Ethnicity

Sexuality
5. Click “Save” on the top right of the profile edit menu once completed.
