We're excited to announce and highlight some #2021APPAM conference activities! These events are mostly taking place in-person from November 11-13 in Austin, Texas with very limited virtual opportunities.
Check out the activities and events below. If you have any questions, please email Samantha Oliver Thomason at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The workshops take place on Wednesday, November 10, just prior to the start of the Fall Research Conference. The topic is selected through an RFP process and will be decided in late summer 2021.
Each morning of the conference, attendees will be invited to join their peers in an organized workout before the day's sessions kick off. Thursday morning participants will take part in a 3-mile fun run near the hotel, Friday's participants enjoy a H.I.I.T workout led by a local gym, and Saturday's participants refresh with a flow yoga class.
More details on these sessions will be availalable in late summer 2021.
APPAM Communities provides opportunities for any group of people to meet at the Fall Research Conference to talk about the topics that are most important to them. This initiative builds on suggestions made by APPAM’s Diversity Committee, and other requests for additional networking opportunities. These communities will be meeting in 45 minute increments from November 11-13. Check back for more information on specific communities or submit a proposal for your own by August 13.
APPAM is pleased to announce the APPAM Positions in Policy (PIP) program. The program connects job seekers who plan on attending the Fall Conference with organizations who will be conducting interviews and potentially hiring at the conference. The employers will contact job candidates directly to set up onsite interviews at the conference for open positions. Those positions may be for a variety of job functions, both academic and non-academic, to appeal to job seekers at all levels including students, postdocs, and early- and mid-career professionals. When available, the positions being interviewed at the conference will be noted on our Job Board - APPAM Career Connections.
As a complimentary service to all APPAM institutional members and $250 for non-institutional members, simply send us your open positions and we will include them on our job board. We can post both positions that will be interviewed for at the conference and those that will have a separate interview process. To post a position, please contact Bethany Clark, email@example.com who will provide the steps necessary for participating in the program.
APPAM will also provide complimentary, private space for PIP participants to host interviews. There will be four interview rooms at the conference that may be reserved in one-hour increments throughout the conference days. Once you reserve the space, you have access to the room for the entire time on the date of your reservation. At the conclusion of the reservation times, the room will be refreshed for use by the next organization. Each organization may reserve up to three time slots. To reserve space, please contact Bethany Clark, firstname.lastname@example.org. Note, you must have a position listed on the APPAM Job Board, Career Connections, to reserve interview space.
